Professor Victòria Alsina asked participants at the Rockefeller Foundation sponsored CrowdLaw conference in Bellagio, Italy in March 2018 about the impact of technology of lawmaking. Watch here.

Robert Bjarnason, Co-Founder of Iceland’s Citizens Foundation spoke with The National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation (NCCD) as part of their “Tech Tuesday” series to discuss how new open source tools and more democratic processes improve public participation in government. 4. ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • CONSULCON18 is two days of collaborative work and technical conferences organized by Medialab-Prado around CONSUL, the largest participation platform in the world based on Ruby on Rails. The conference recently made an open call for papers to encourage those with participation experience or research related to CONSUL to share their story in Madrid. CONSULCON18 will take place in Madrid from November 22–24, 2018. To submit a proposal, click here.
  • The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy will host its annual conference from November 26–28 in in Barcelona, Spain. This year’s conference is based on exploring citizen initiatives and direct democracy as ways of encouraging inclusive participation. To submit a proposal, click here.
